West Oakland homicide victim identified

An Oakland man has been identified as the victim of a homicide in West Oakland on Monday night, police said Wednesday.

Dymetrie Shaw, 55, was shot and killed in the 600 block of 32nd Street at 8:08 p.m., according to police.

Shaw suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have released no information about possible suspects or a motive for the shooting.

His death was the 76th homicide in Oakland this year and the third on Monday. About 10 hours earlier, two 19-year-old friends were shot and killed only about 10 blocks away in the 700 block of 39th Street.

Roderick Trevon Godfrey and Deante Miller were identified as the victims of the shooting. They had grown up in West Oakland and attended McClymonds High School together, where Godfrey went by Tra and Miller went by PeakABoo.

Prior to his graduation earlier this year, Godfrey had participated in a town hall meeting on gun violence hosted by U.S. Rep.

Barbara Lee, where he said eight of his friends had been killed in 2015 before breaking down in tears.

Anyone with information about the homicides has been asked to contact Oakland police homicide investigators at (510) 238-3821 or a tip line at (510) 238-7950.
