Napa County provides online permit system

Starting Thursday, Napa County will provide an online option for residents seeking building and environmental health permits through the county’s new Online Permit System.

Applications will be available for permits for re-roofs, water heater replacements, site evaluations and well permits, county officials said.

Users can print out re-roof and water heater replacements instantly, while site evaluations and well permits will be printable after a process that includes county staff review.

The system will be available 24 hours a day at no charge, although credit card charges for permits will still apply, county officials said.

“We’re excited for this opportunity to improve our service and provide a convenient option for our customers,” county Planning, Building and Environmental Services director David Morrison said in a statement. “We would rather have people online than in line.”

People can get registered for the system by calling (707) 253-4417. More information can be found online at

Anyone wishing to provide input on what should also be part of the county’s online permit process can contact PBES assistant director Christine Secheli at (707) 259-8327 or christine.secheli@countyofnapa.org.
