Two men were injured when their house caught fire in San Francisco’s Outer Mission neighborhood Thursday, fire officials said.
The fire department reported the fire at about 11:45 a.m. at 63 Rae Ave. It started on the rear portion of the second floor and quickly spread, fire department spokesman Jonathan Baxter said.
Firefighters got the blaze under control within about 15 minutes, but the area around where the fire started was significantly burned, Baxter said. Both residents were displaced.
The two men who live there were both home when the fire broke out and suffered smoke inhalation. One of them went to a hospital, where he is in stable condition, and the other was treated at the scene, Baxter said.
They declined American Red Cross assistance because they have family in the area, but firefighters left them with information about city services anyways.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters expected to remain there until about 1 p.m. cleaning up, Baxter said.
