Two teens arrested on suspicion of robbery

Two Marin County teenagers were arrested in San Rafael Sunday night after police say they attempted a street robbery.

At 8:20 p.m., police were dispatched to an apartment complex parking lot on Sonoma Street, in San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood.

A man had allegedly approached a man and demanded money, left and returned with another suspect.

One of the suspects showed a replica gun and threatened the victim and his child, police said. The victim got away, and several witnesses confronted the suspects. A fight broke out, and both suspects fled.

Officers found and arrested Ashwan Wells of San Rafael and Oliver Almonor of Novato, both 18.

The two were booked on suspicion of attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, child endangerment, brandishing a weapon, display of an imitation firearm, vandalism and conspiracy to commit a crime.
