A former high school football coach and another man have been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley last month.
Two men who were booked into San Francisco jail on Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of San Francisco resident Giovanni Hernandez, 36, face felony charges including murder and attempted murder, according to court records.
Hernandez was shot multiple times in the first block of Burr Avenue around 4 p.m. on Oct. 1 and died a short time later in the hospital, according to police.
Salevi Levi, 22, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning on felony charges in Hernandez’s death including murder, attempted murder and assault with a semi-automatic firearm, as well as misdemeanor carrying a loaded firearm.
Levi, who remains in custody with bail set at $15 million, was an assistant freshman football coach at Archbishop Riordan High School this year, but his employment was terminated after he failed to show up for work on Oct. 31, a spokesperson for the archdiocese said today.
A second man, Dennis Paulo-Tufono, 23, was also charged this afternoon in connection with the same case with murder, attempted murder, assault with a semi-automatic firearm and being an accessory after the fact, according to prosecutors.
He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
Hernandez was one of five people killed over the course of three days during a particularly violent weekend in the city, and the second person shot in barely two hours in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood that afternoon.
