A pedestrian was killed by a big-rig while crossing the street in Emeryville Tuesday morning, according to police.
The female pedestrian was crossing Powell Street in a crosswalk near Christie Avenue at 9:24 a.m. while the truck driver was making a right turn from Christie to Powell, police said.
She was hit by the front of the truck and got knocked down and pulled under the truck. The truck driver stopped and called police.
The pedestrian was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland but died there later today, police said. Her name has not been released.
The truck driver is cooperating with the police investigation.
The pedestrian’s death is the second traffic fatality in Emeryville this year, according to police.
