SFO flight to Paris returns after mechanical issue

A flight leaving San Francisco International Airport Monday afternoon returned to the airport several hours later due to a mechanical issue, an airport duty manager said Monday evening.

United Airlines Flight 990 departed SFO for Paris, France, around 3:30 p.m., but returned around 6:15 p.m. due to a mechanical issue.

Around 7 p.m. airport personnel said crews were swapping out the aircraft in an effort to get passengers back on their way to Paris.
