California Department of Motor Vehicles officials said Thursday that a computer outage that affected its offices across the state had again affected Bay Area offices.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, offices in Concord, Mountain View and San Jose were affected. DMV officials had previously said that all Bay Area offices were providing full services as of 9 a.m.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, only vehicle registration services at the Concord field office were affected, according to the DMV web site.
Spokesman Jaime Garza said:
“As our staff attempts to get computers back online, there are instances when the computers may have a hiccup and we need to make a quick adjustment.”
The outage started Monday and affected at least six Bay Area offices.
DMV officials said the outage had affected driver’s license, ID card and vehicle registration transactions at DMV field offices.
To avoid vehicle registration penalties because a transaction could not be processed, customers should fill out a statement of facts or write a letter explaining why the payment was late, according to DMV officials.
