Two pedestrians were struck on Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek while trying to cross the highway after a crash Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The initial crash was reported shortly before 8:15 a.m. on southbound Highway 680 near Ygnacio Valley Road.
Two pedestrians tried to cross southbound and northbound lanes of the highway but were hit by a car on the northbound side and suffered major injuries, according to the CHP.
The incident is causing traffic delays on both sides of the highway. No other information about the case was immediately available.
