Sonoma airport adds non-stop to Phoenix

American Airlines’ partner Sky West will begin flying between Santa Rosa and Phoenix in February, the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport manager announced Monday morning.

There will be one daily, non-stop flight to and from the Phoenix-Sky Harbor International Airport starting Feb. 16. The less than two-hour flight will arrive in Santa Rosa at 3:42 p.m. p.m. and leave for Phoenix at 4:12 p.m., airport manager Jon Stout said.

The American Airlines CRJ-700 Bombardier regional jet seats 70 and will have three rows of first-class service, in flight Wi-Fi and food and beverage service. Tickets are available today at www.aa.com.

The flights will present an opportunity for easy connections from Phoenix to cities like Albuquerque, Dallas and Salt Lake City.

Stout said the Phoenix-Sky Harbor International Airport service will compliment Allegiant Air’s existing service between the Sonoma County and Phoenix-Mesa airports.

Allegiant Air concentrates on the leisure traveler and the American Airlines service will provide service opportunities for business travelers, Stout said.

The Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport also offers direct daily flights on Alaskan Airlines to Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego and twice a week flights on Allegiant Air to Las Vegas and Phoenix-Mesa.

Business at the airport is up 30 percent this year, Stout said.
