Robbery victim dragged by car near Cliff House

A man was dragged by a vehicle when he tried to hang on to his camera during a robbery Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco’s Outer Richmond neighborhood, police said Thursday.

The robbery occurred around 3:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Point Lobos Avenue, a popular tourist area near the Cliff House, Lands End and Sutro Baths, according to police.

The victim, a 29-year-old man, was taking pictures when two men approached him and grabbed his camera.

The suspects fled in a waiting sedan, occupied by three other people, but the victim refused to release his camera and was dragged by the vehicle when the suspects drove away, police said.

The victim suffered injuries to his arm and shoulder but refused medical treatment. He lost his camera and other camera equipment in the robbery, police said.

The robbery was the second reported in the normally quiet area in as many days.

Two people were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night around 10 p.m. as they unloaded their vehicle at 45th Avenue and Clement Street, just a few blocks from Wednesday’s incident.

The victims in that case, a man and a woman in their 30s, were robbed of cash, camera equipment, a tablet computer and a drivers license and passport by two male suspects armed with a handgun.

The suspects in that case fired a shot into the air before fleeing the scene, but the victims were not injured.

No arrests have been reported in either case.
