Wheelchair groper reported on Cal campus

Police at the University of California at Berkeley received reports of two separate incidents of sexual battery by a man in a wheelchair on campus Friday.

The first incident took place just before 6 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union, according to campus police.

A witness reported seeing a white man with curly brown hair touching a female victim inappropriately, campus police said.

Police searched the area, but did not locate the suspect, who was said to be wearing a black shirt and jeans, according to police.

Shortly after, police received a report of a man matching the same description touching female victims at other locations on campus, including at the Free Speech Movement Café.

Police however were again unable to locate the suspect.

No victims have come forward, campus police said.

Anyone who may have been victimized by the suspect or who may have information about the suspect is asked to contact UCPD at (510) 642-0472 or (510) 642-6760.
