San Francisco police are responding this morning to a report of a suspicious package in the area of Mission Street and South Van Ness Avenue and have blocked off access to all vehicles and pedestrians, a police spokeswoman said.
San Francisco Municipal Railway officials reported the package at 7:27 a.m. at a bus stop and police have set up a perimeter that encompasses several blocks, police spokeswoman Officer Giselle Talkoff said.
UPDATE 10:24 a.m. Rice cooker snarls San Francisco morning traffic.The department’s bomb squad has been called out and people are advised to avoid the area, Talkoff said.
