Mission rollovers tangle commute traffic

Two rollover collisions resulted in injuries and traffic jams when they occurred within roughly half an hour of each other Thursday afternoon in San Francisco’s Mission District, according to police.

The first wreck was reported at 3:02 p.m. in the vicinity of 16th and Mission streets.

A vehicle struck three parked vehicles and a woman in her 50s, who was thrown roughly seven feet and injured.

Then at 3:31 p.m. another crash was reported in the vicinity of 13th Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

A truck and another vehicle collided, then the truck rolled over.

San Francisco Police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi described both crashes as severe, saying that the drivers involved in both rollovers were injured.

The collisions also affected traffic. Manfredi said:

“It’s unique to have two rollovers so close together in the same district during rush hour.”

Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be factors in either incident.
