The explosion was reported in the area of 350 Bush St. shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to the fire department.
Smoke was visible initially but no fire was seen and no injuries have been reported.
Drivers should expect traffic delays in the area. PG&E was on scene shortly before 9:15 a.m.
