Minivan kills motorcylist in Oakland crash

A motorcyclist was killed when he was hit by a minivan driver making a U-turn in the Oakland hills on Monday evening, according to police.

The Alameda County coroner’s bureau identified the rider as 49-year-old James Lucas of Oakland.

Lucas was heading west on Skyline Boulevard when he was hit by a 2012 Toyota Sienna minivan making a U-turn near the Chabot Space and Science Center, police said.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The minivan driver stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the police investigation, police said.
