Police are searching for a woman that escaped police custody Friday at a jail in Martinez.
Around 7:10 p.m. jail staff was dropping off a suspect, 29-year-old Nyilah Hutcherson of Rodeo, to the Martinez Detention Facility, when the handcuffed prisoner escaped and fled.
According to police a search by foot, car and airship ensued, but was called off after a few hours due to the non-violent nature of the suspect’s original alleged crimes.
Hutcherson is described as being five foot seven inches, weighing 120 pounds, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a white t-shirt and black pants.
Police said she is not considered a threat to society.
