District superintendent to tour Oakland schools

Oakland Unified School District Superintendent will start the 2016-2017 school year by visiting six schools at five campuses across Oakland Monday, according to OUSD officials.
For the first day of school, Superintendent Antwan Wilson will board a school bus at 6:45 a.m. and ride with students to Korematsu Discovery Academy in East Oakland, OUSD officials said.
OUSD official said at each school, Superintendent Wilson will tour the campus as well as hand out stickers that read, “I Am OUSD”.
Throughout the day Wilson will head to Sequoia Middle School, Claremont Middle School, and Dewey High School before ending his tour at McClymonds High School, where he will be joined by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf for a news conference, according to OUSD officials.
Wilson plans on speaking with the media around 3 p.m. to give his assessment of the first day and to discuss plans for the district for this school year.
