Drowned woman is second Ocean Beach death in week

A woman who was pulled from the water at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach Wednesday morning has died, the medical examiner’s office has confirmed.

The woman was reported floating about 20 yards off shore at Ocean Beach near Lincoln Way shortly before 11 a.m., according to San Francisco Fire Department Lt. Jonathan Baxter.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was pulled from the water by National Park Service personnel, Baxter said.

Emergency personnel performed CPR and she was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Baxter said.

However, medical examiner’s office staff confirmed this afternoon that they have since been called out in response to her death. Her name has not yet been released.
