Officials at Hercules Middle School arrived Monday morning to discover the school’s cafeteria had been damaged after someone allegedly snuck into it and drove a golf cart inside, according to police.
Around 10:15 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of vandalism at the school located at 1900 Refugio Valley Road, police said.
When officers arrived, they did not find any signs of forced entry, according to police.
After a preliminary investigation, officers determined someone entered the locked cafeteria sometime between 4 p.m. Friday and 7:15 a.m.
Monday. The suspect then took a golf cart, which had been parked inside the cafeteria, and drove it around, damaging the floors, police said.
Additionally, the suspect cut a locking wheel boot off the golf cart. The boot was found discarded outside the school, according to police.
Although classes have not yet started at the school, a registration event was scheduled this morning inside the school’s cafeteria, according to the school’s website.
It was not immediately clear if the vandalism incident affected the registration event.
