A winning lottery ticket worth nearly $800,000 was sold in Sunnyvale in the latest Powerball lottery drawing Saturday night, California Lottery officials said.
The ticket worth $785,065 before federal taxes are taken out was sold at Liquor & Food at 734 S. Fair Oaks Ave.
Three tickets were sold in California that matched five of six numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, lottery officials said.
The other two tickets were sold in Long Beach and Capitola.
Lottery officials won’t know the names of the winners until they claim their prizes, which won’t happen until this morning at the earliest.
Saturday’s jackpot of $478 million was the game’s fifth-largest ever, and will be claimed by a person who bought the winning ticket in New Hampshire, according to lottery officials.
California winners have 180 days from Saturday to claim their prize.
Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the back of their winning ticket in ink immediately and keep it in a safe place until they can claim the prize at one of the nine California Lottery district offices.
Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot will be $40 million.
