A shoplifting suspect injured a store clerk in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood, wounding the man in his hand, face and neck with a knife while trying to get away on Thursday morning, police said today.
Officers responded at 4:45 a.m. to the assault in the 2800 block of Third Street where a man in his 20s tried to leave a business without paying for an item.
Two employees confronted the man. He assaulted one employee and chased the other with a knife, according to police.
The suspect then fled the store after dropping the item. The injuries to the employee are not considered life-threatening, police said.
