A female inmate was found dead in her cell at the Justice Center Detention Facility in Fairfield Monday afternoon, a Solano County sheriff’s deputy said.
The unresponsive woman was found at 1:15 p.m. in the jail at 500 Union Avenue. She was last seen alive an hour earlier, Deputy Christine Castillo said.
Jail staff and paramedics performed medical assistance and CPR but the woman was pronounced dead at 1:31 p.m. Preliminary findings indicate the death was a suicide, Castillo said.
The woman’s identity is being withheld until her next of kin are notified, Castillo said.
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office’s Investigations Bureau and the Solano County District Attorney’s Office were called to the scene to investigate the death, Castillo said.
