Two Marin County men died in a five-vehicle collision Friday in Pasadena, California, officials with the California Highway Patrol said.
San Rafael man Tristan Witte, 20, died when a red 2004 Buick he was driving folded in half in a collision with a 2006 Chevrolet GMC. A 20-year-old Novato man, who was a passenger in the Buick, also died.
An official with the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner-Coroner said the Novato man’s name is being withheld until he has been identified.
At about 4:50 p.m. Friday, a white 2007 Nissan box truck collided with a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee on eastbound Interstate Highway 210 east of Sierre Madre Boulevard.
The collision pushed the Jeep into the Buick, which crashed into the center divider and was struck by the box truck, forcing the Buick into a collision with the Chevrolet, CHP officials said.
The Chevrolet rolled onto its right side. As the Jeep slid into the far left lane, a silver 2015 Hyundai sideswiped it.
Besides the two deaths, four others suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Alcohol does not appear to have played a part in the collision, according to CHP officials.
