If anything has become more certain about Draymond Green following his arrest last weekend, it’s that he rarely stops talking. Even when he’s in police custody.
A 42-minute portion of booking video obtained by SFBay from the East Lansing Police Department reveals Green in an “Attack the Glass” T-shirt, shorts, and Nike sandals with white socks as he chats with officers, turns over personal belongings, takes a breathalyzer test, and is photographed for booking by a female officer.
Green was arrested early Sunday night after allegedly assaulting Michigan State cornerback Jermaine Edmondson during a confrontation outside an East Lansing restaurant.
Other than doors closing and other muffled sounds, the audio is inaudible for the first eight minutes, after which it is completely silent.
Green appears to be extended courtesies, like unsupervised use of his cellphone, and appears to ask for and be given a charging cable from officers at one point (4:30) in the video.
A police officer escorts Green into a booking area as the video begins, before he removes his belongings from his pockets and places them on a counter. Officers appear to display a relaxed demeanor, with Green allowed to walk around the holding area, unsupervised at times, and without handcuffs. Several times Green and officers appear to exchange smiles and laughs with during conversations.
Green faces prosecution on misdemeanor assault and battery charges, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for August. If convicted, Green faces a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
