A pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV in West Oakland Tuesday morning, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of San Pablo Avenue near Interstate Highway 580 at 11:53 a.m.
On scene they found a that a woman who’d been attempting to cross the roadway mid-block was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe that was unable to stop.
The victim was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver and a passenger were uninjured, according to police.
Alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash.
