A man was injured in an apparent drive-by shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District on Monday evening, police said.
The 67-year-old victim was standing outside in the 1000 block of Shotwell Street near 24th Street at 5:41 p.m. when he heard around eight gunshots and felt pain in his lower torso, police said.
The man was taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds and is expected to survive his injuries.
Police said the victim did not know where the shots came from, but the suspects are thought to have been associated with a black sedan. No arrests have been made.
The shooting occurred close to the scene of a previous fatal shooting in the area of 24th and Shotwell streets on July 1.
In that incident, a male victim was shot and killed by a suspect with a handgun around 11:45 p.m., and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The victim in that shooting has been identified as Rigoberto Romero, a 27-year-old San Francisco resident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Police have not announced any arrests in that shooting as of this morning or released any suspect descriptions.
