Dive teams search lake for father, son

A search for a father and son who vanished Sunday evening after falling into the water remained underway Monday morning at a lake in Pleasanton.

The pair was reported missing around 7 p.m. at Shadow Cliffs Lake, according to East Bay Regional Park District spokeswoman Carolyn Jones.

UPDATE 11:18 a.m. Bodies of father, son recovered from Shadow Cliffs Lake.

Dive teams from both the park district and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the two men into the night, and are continuing the search again today, Jones said.

The two were on a raft with a large group of people in the middle of the lake. The area is outside of the lake’s designated swim area and is about 40 feet deep, according to Jones.

When the pair fell off the raft, good Samaritans tried to help them but were unsuccessful. The men did not know how to swim and were not wearing life jackets, Jones said.
