The bodies of a father and son who vanished after falling into a Pleasanton lake Sunday evening were recovered Monday morning, according to East Bay Regional Park District officials.
The pair, ages 49 and 34, was reported missing around 7 p.m. at Shadow Cliffs Lake, according to park district spokeswoman Carolyn Jones.
Dive teams from both the park district and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the two men into the night, and continued searching again this morning, Jones said.
The two were on a raft with a group of family members in the middle of the lake. The area is outside of the lake’s designated swim area and is about 40 feet deep, according to Jones.
When the pair fell off the raft, good Samaritans tried to help them but were unsuccessful. The men did not know how to swim and were not wearing life jackets, Jones said.
The identities of the two men have not been released.
