A confrontation between an alleged drunk driver and a homeowner Saturday evening in Vacaville resulted in both men getting arrested, according to police.
Around 5 p.m., officers responded to a report of a traffic accident in the 500 block of Bass Drive, police said.
Upon arrival, officers saw a truck had crashed into the front yard of a home. Witnesses told officers that the driver of the truck had just walked into a nearby residence.
Officers were able to locate the driver, who then told them that he had just been beaten with a baseball bat, according to police.
After an investigation, officers determined the driver had crashed his truck into the home’s yard. The homeowner then went outside to confront the driver and assaulted him with a baseball bat, police said.
The driver then left the scene on foot, before police contacted him. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and later arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The homeowner was also arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
