A 6-year-old boy was hit by a car and killed while walking with his family at the Westfield Oakridge mall in San Jose on Thursday night, police said today.
The boy was walking in the parking lot at 925 Blossom Hill Road with his mother and older sister at 9:34 p.m.
He was holding his mother’s hand when they both were hit by a gray 2015 Mercedes driven slowly through the parking lot, police said.
The boy was taken to a hospital but died there.
The Mercedes driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The driver is not suspected to have been using drugs or alcohol, police said.
The boy’s name has not been released. He is the 21st person killed in a traffic collision in San Jose this year.
