A big rig fire closed part of westbound state Highway 37 in Vallejo early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said reports of a tanker carrying gasoline was on fire near Fairgrounds Drive came in at 2:27 a.m.
The offramp was briefly closed but has since reopened.
A CHP officer said the driver attempted to use his extinguisher on the rear of the truck where the fire was located, however was unsuccessful in extinguishing it.
Vallejo firefighters were contacted to put out the fire and a second big rig was called to remove the remaining fuel from the tanker, which was damaged but not breached in the fire.
There were no reports of injuries and the CHP said a tow truck had been dispatched to remove the tanker.
