At 5:37 a.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 200 block of Castro Street, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers noticed the front windowpane of the Starbucks had been smashed and its doors were open.
Officers then spotted a man, later identified as 29-year-old German Lopez, sitting inside the business, police said.
Officers saw that Lopez had glass fragments on his shirt and pants, as well as all over the floor where he was seated, according to police.
Officers arrested Lopez on suspicion of commercial burglary and booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail, police said.
