Improvements begin along Iron Horse Trail

Improvements on the popular Iron Horse Trail will begin this week, according to East Bay Regional Park District officials.

Park district officials said work will take place on a 16-mile span of the trail between the Rudgear staging area in Alamo and the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station.

The improvements to the trail include resurfacing, removing and replacing damaged asphalt, crack sealing, leveling, micro-surfacing, slurry sealing and seal coating.

The $341,000 project was funded by Measure J sales tax revenue for the Contra Costa County portion and the park district’s general fund for the Alameda County segment.

Various sections of the trail will be closed during renovations at different times from today through July 28.

Interested parkgoers can contact the Contra Costa Trails Park Supervisor at (510) 544-3027 for more information.
