Marin CHP presents free teen driver safety course

The California Highway Patrol is offering a free course to teenagers on safe driving.

According to the CHP, officers will be presenting a Start Smart Class June 29 at the Marin Area CHP office, located at 53 San Clemente Drive.

The CHP said the class is intended to help young drivers and their parents better understand the responsibilities of driving as well as reveal how poor choices behind the wheel can change the lives of everyone involved.

According to the CHP, motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of death for Americans ages 15 to 20 years old.

The goal of the program is to reduce the number of teen-related injuries and deaths due to collisions.

The CHP said there is no cost to attend the course, and parents and drivers that are interested should reach out to the Marin CHP at (415) 924-1100 for more information.
