A 6-day eBay auction for lunch with investor Warren Buffett ended Friday evening with the top bidder paying $3.5 million that will go to benefit people who get help from San Francisco’s social service agency Glide.
The anonymous bidder paid $3,456,789 by the time the auction bell rang at 7:30 p.m.
Buffet said in a statement:
“Glide is a bridge for thousands of people on the brink of despair, helping them achieve dignity and opportunity by providing them with basic services.”
The winner and up to seven friends will have lunch with the famous investor and philanthropist at the New York City steakhouse Smith & Wollensky.
This year’s auction is the 17th annual one that has helped raise more than $20 million for Glide.
