Deputies arrested an employee of Solano Community College after allegedly he shot himself accidentally Friday with a gun he brought to the Vallejo campus, Solano County sheriff’s officials said today.
Fairfield resident David Reese Jr., 32, was arrested after deputies found blood at 7:05 a.m. Friday in an office on the first floor of the Vallejo campus at 545 Columbus Parkway.
Deputies locked down the campus as they investigated the incident.
Allegedly, Reese brought the gun to campus and was fixing or cleaning it when it went off and a bullet hit his hand, according to sheriff’s officials.
Reese drove himself to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center where he was treated and released, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies got in touch with Reese later and booked him into the county jail on suspicion of bringing a gun to campus and carrying an unregistered, loaded gun.
Sheriff’s officials said it is illegal to bring a gun to a college campus.
