San Rafael woman killed by dump truck

The woman who was killed when she was struck by a truck in downtown San Rafael Thursday afternoon was identified as Tatyana Zaslavsky, 77, of San Rafael, according to the Marin County coroner’s office.
Zaslavsky was walking westbound in the southern crosswalk on Third Street at the Hetherton Street intersection when she was struck by the dump truck, Chief Deputy Coroner Darrell Harris said.
The San Rafael Fire Department was informed of the incident at 1:13 p.m. and Zaslavsky was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:22 p.m., Harris said.
Hetherton Street was closed between Third Street and the U.S.
Highway 101 southbound on-ramp, San Rafael police Lt. Dan Fink said. Traffic was gridlocked in the busy area near the San Rafael Transit Center and motorists were advised to use alternate routes.
