Two sexual assaults reported on Santa Rosa trails

Police in Santa Rosa are investigating a pair of sexual assaults that occurred on trails in May.

The first incident was reported in mid-May, when a man reported he was sexually assaulted on the Paulin Creek Trail between Range Avenue and Hardies Lane.

Police said there were three male suspects involved in the assault, and one of the suspects was holding a knife during the sexual assault.

On May 24, a second victim reported he was sexually assaulted on the Joe Rodota Trail between Hampton Way and Stony Point Road.

The victim in that assault also reported there were three male suspects involved.

Both assaults occurred between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. and are being investigated by the police department’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit.

Police said it is unclear if the sexual assaults are connected.

Anyone with information on the assaults is asked to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department at (707) 543-3595.
