Nob Hill breaking and entering suspect barricaded in apartment

Police hostage negotiators are at an apartment building in San Francisco’s Nob Hill neighborhood Friday morning attempting to get a suspect to surrender.

Around 9:20 a.m., 911 dispatchers received a call from a person in the 900 block of Pacific Street saying a suspect had broken into their apartment, according to police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan.

Officers responded to the scene and found that the suspect was still inside the apartment. When officers ordered him out of the apartment, the suspect barricaded himself in a room, Gatpandan said.

Officers then heard one shot go off.

The building has been evacuated and nearby buildings have been ordered to shelter in place, according to Gatpandan.

No injuries have been reported, Gatpandan said.

Additionally, a police SWAT team has responded to the scene.
