The San Francisco Fire Department’s beach patrol entered the waters of Ocean Beach in the vicinity of Great Highway and Sloat Boulevard around 3:20 p.m., firefighters said on Twitter.

Rescue swimmers had retrieved a 13-year-old female from the water by 3:35 p.m. She was evaluated at the scene, but information about the victim’s condition was not immediately available.
