Austin was arrested for the murder of the woman and resisting or obstructing an officer.
Police responded around 10 p.m. Thursday to a report of a man physically assaulting a woman in the 400 block of Wallace Avenue, Sgt. Fabio Rodriguez said.
Police found the woman in the driveway of a residence and she was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries, Rodriguez said.
Police have not identified the victim.
