Beyonce concert-goers advised to buy VTA

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is advising fans taking light-rail trains to the Beyonce concert at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara Monday evening to purchase round-trip passes ahead of time.

Beyonce is scheduled to perform beginning at 7:30 p.m. as part of her Formation World Tour.

Because of large crowds expected at the event, VTA officials said having pre-purchased fares will allow passengers to board faster. Single-ride tickets will not be available at the stadium.

Roundtrip Excursion Passes cost $4 for adults, $3.50 for youth between the ages of 5 and 18, and $2 for senior and disabled riders. The tickets can be purchased from ticket vending machines at all light-rail platforms, according to VTA officials.

The roundtrip Excursion Passes or Day Passes can also be bought using VTA’s mobile app EventTIK, which can be downloaded at the iTunes store or Google Play, VTA officials said.

Additionally, Caltrain said this morning it is adding an extra northbound train to the schedule for fans following the concert. That train departs from the Mountain View station about 75 minutes after the end of the concert and will go to San Francisco.

VTA and Caltrain riders can also opt for Clipper cards, which can be bought at all Walgreen stores, some Whole Foods stores, VTA Customer Service offices and online at www.clippercard.com. Clipper cards with a $5 e-cash value will also be available to purchase at Levi’s Stadium after the event, according to VTA officials.

Beyonce last performed at Levi’s Stadium during the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in February, along with Coldplay and Bruno Mars.
