Cop car caught on video hitting bicyclist

Police are investigating a traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a San Francisco police patrol car that happened Thursday evening in San Francisco’s Financial District.

The victim, who has identified himself as Timothy Doyle, said in a Facebook post that he was involved in a collision with a patrol car, around 5:45 p.m. near Mission and Second streets.

An officer was pulling out of a parking space and then drove in front of Doyle, causing Doyle to fly off of his bike and land on his back, according to Doyle.

The officer stayed at the scene and called emergency personnel.

Doyle was then taken to San Francisco General Hospital, with cracked bones and a wound to his right leg, Doyle said.

Part of the incident was captured on video and posted on YouTube this morning. The video can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eacBcZKSh7Q&feature=share.

Police spokesman Albie Esparza confirmed police were investigating the incident.
