4-year-old drowns in swimming pool

A 4-year-old boy drowned Sunday afternoon in a swimming pool at an apartment complex in Rohnert Park, public safety officials said.
At 4:22 p.m., public safety officials received a 911 call from someone at the Sonoma Racquet Club apartment complex at 777 Racquet Club Circle.
The person said the 4-year-old boy was found at the bottom of a complex’s pool.
An initial investigation indicates that the boy was using a kickboard to swim and slipped off the board. He went under the water unnoticed, public safety officials said.
Several minutes passed before the boy was found and removed from the pool. Bystanders started CPR and paramedics took over when they arrived.
The boy was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa where he died at 5:34 p.m., according to public safety officials.
The family’s name is not being released to protect their privacy.
Public safety officials said the investigation indicates the drowning was accidental.
