Flaming I-80 vehicle sparks Vallejo wildfire

A wildfire in South Vallejo sparked by a vehicle fire on Interstate Highway 80 is under control, firefighters said Wednesday evening.

The fire started on the eastbound side of the highway near the toll plaza, the Vallejo Fire Department said via Twitter around 4:45 p.m.

Firefighters estimated the size of the blaze at 10 to 30 acres.

The incident temporarily blocked lanes of traffic on Highway 80, but no homes were threatened.

Crews are still on scene mopping up, firefighters said.
