The Campbell Union High School District is set to receive a new superintendent, the district’s Board of Trustees announced Thursday.
Dr. Robert Bravo, who will assume his new role June 20, was chosen among 30 applicants from around the country, according to the district. Bravo said:
“Having grown up in San Jose, I am thrilled to be returning to the Silicon Valley. I am eager to begin working with staff and the community in the service of the students and their families.”
Previously, Bravo worked a director of construction services for the Dallas Independent School District and as an area superintendent in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Before that, Bravo had worked as a high school-level teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent, the district said.
Additionally, Bravo holds a doctorate as well as a master’s in education and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Prior to the announcement, Tanya Krause served as interim superintendent. She filled the position, after former Superintendent Patrick Gafney said he was stepping down from the position in February, in order to spend more time with his family, according to the district.
Gafney became the district’s superintendent in 2012, after former Superintendent Rhonda Farber retired.
