Vallejo blaze injures juvenile, displaces family

A fire early Thursday morning at a single-family home in Vallejo sent a juvenile to the hospital and displaced a family.

The fire was first reported just before 1 a.m. in the 1400 block of Carl Avenue.

Firefighters responded to the scene to find flames coming from the residence. The blaze was extinguished by around 2 a.m.

A juvenile was transported to the hospital after suffering minor to moderate burns, according to the fire department.

An adult also suffered minor injuries but opted not to go to the hospital.

Fire officials said the blaze was mostly contained to the rear of the residence, but there was extensive damage to the home and it is uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
