Dana Stubblefield charged with rape of disabled woman

Former San Francisco 49ers star Dana Stubblefield has been charged with the rape of a disabled woman, Santa Clara County prosecutors said Monday.

Stubblefield, 45, allegedly sexually assaulted the developmentally disabled victim on April 9, 2015, after she was asked via a website to come to his Morgan Hill home to interview for a babysitter job, prosecutors said.

After the assault, the victim immediately went to Morgan Hill police to report the crime, prosecutors said.

Stubblefield was booked into jail today on $250,000 bail, according to jail records.

He faces five felony counts in the case. A court date has not yet been set, according to the district attorney’s office.

“This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim,” Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny said in a statement. “She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted.” No other information about the case was immediately available from the district attorney’s office.

Stubblefield, a defensive lineman, won a Super Bowl in 1995 with the 49ers and was named 1997’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
