The Raiders got their man.
Karl Joseph, a safety from the University of West Virginia, will join the Silver and Black after being selected with the 14th overall pick.
Joseph posted outstanding numbers during his collegiate career — nine interceptions in 41 games, with 16 tackles for loss and seven passes defensed — and will be competing with Nate Allen and Reggie Nelson for a starting job in 2016.
Joseph was widely considered the top safety in the draft, and the Raiders had a major need in the secondary after allowing the 7th most passing yards in 2015.
Known as a hard-hitting defensive back, Joseph missed half of his 2015 season with an ACL injury sustained in a non contact drill. At the time of the injury, he was the FBS interception leader and will be looking to make an impact in a division void of any high-impact quarterbacks.
